Chances are you are asking that burning question: “Who Is McGladrey?” In short, “McGladrey” references our founder, Ira B. McGladrey, who started this firm in Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1926. McGladrey might be the best accounting firm you have never heard of - a big firm, with a small firm feel. McGladrey & Pullen and RSM McGladrey Inc together are the fifth largest provider of Assurance, Tax and Business Consulting services in the U.S. We are a member of RSM International, the seventh-largest worldwide accounting and consulting organization with more than 600 offices in nearly 75 countries.

You may wonder why are there two firm names. RSM McGladrey, a wholly owned indirect subsidiary of H&R Block, provides accounting, tax and business consulting services. McGladrey & Pullen is a partner-owned CPA firm that provides audit and attest services. Federal and state regulations and laws exist to ensure that licensed CPA firms are separate legal entities and are fully able to act independently in service to their clients. The rules and regulations state that a public company cannot own any share of, control any aspect of, or share in the profits of a licensed CPA firm. The Alternative Practice Structure that we operate under enables us to fully comply with the spirit, rules and regulations that govern our business. Many of our people are employees of both organizations. In the end, although we operate as separate and independent legal entities, the two firms work together to serve our clients needs.
